Decoders convert IP streams of video and audio into something you can watch. There are two kinds, hardware decoders that drive analog/VGA monitors, and software decoders which run on PCs so that video can be viewed on the PC monitor itself.
The VIP XD decoder is capable of handling a stream running at 30 FPS at 4CIF. The Bosch VIP XD decoder allows you to view up to four IP cameras/encoders on one monitor with its built-in virtual multiplexer. Other hardware decoders are available for situations requiring lower framerates and resolutions. All hardware decoders also provide the means to transparently send RS-232/422/485 data across the network, which means you can use the network to extend your reach.
